Our consultants take a great deal of time to get to know the households looking for Nanny/Housekeepers, and similarly the candidates looking for Nanny/Housekeeper jobs. To ensure longevity in all placements, it’s imperative that a match is made based on personality and character, as well as ability and experience.

Nanny/Housekeeper Duties

Knightsbridge Household Staff understand that all domestic staff jobs need to be tailored specifically to meet the needs of each client, and as such, the responsibilities of a Nanny/Housekeeper will totally depend on the individual requirements of each family and household. We provide a completely bespoke service to each and every client.

Division of time between domestic Housekeeping tasks and childcare is wholly up to you. Traditionally we see our Nanny/Housekeepers looking after the household during the morning, while older children might be at school and then switching to a Nanny role when they’re back in the afternoons, from 3pm for example. This would be a sole care position and could include collecting children from school or after school clubs, cooking, helping with homework and other childcare duties. Meanwhile they would have taken care of all Housekeepers’ duties before the children get home or around the children’s schedules.

However, in families with younger children the Nanny/Housekeeper may be working alongside a parent and so managing the Housekeeping while they are around and then taking on Nanny duties on a more ad hoc basis when parents are busy.

When they are working on the Housekeeper duties, this would include cleaning, laundry and ironing, making beds, general tidying, shopping, looking after pets, cooking and preparing meals and possibly overseeing other members of the household.

Both scenarios could see the Nanny/Housekeeper living in or out, working full or part-time. What hours they’d work is also up to the agreement made with the family – it could include weekends or one day a weekend or be Monday-Friday.
